⛰️ Role Description

We’re seeking an Engineering Manager with strong technical expertise and proven experience in managing software development teams. This role is crucial in enhancing our operations, from capacity planning and sprint estimations to refining our release process and enhancing specification development. You’ll manage projects, streamline systems, and enhance product development efficiency in a remote, collaborative environment. While familiarity with agile methodologies is important, flexibility and adaptability are key.

💫 Responsibilities

  • Project and Team Management: Oversee project schedules, ensure milestones and deadlines are met, and foster collaboration and innovation among developers.
  • Process Improvement and Issue Resolution: Optimize the release process, drive consistent delivery of high-quality products, and address blockers impeding team progress.
  • Align Development Work and Roadmap: Collaborate with the CTO and Head of Product to meet product goals and technical constraints and ensure effective decision-making with a deep understanding of technical aspects.
  • Mentorship and Best Practices: Offer technical mentorship, regular feedback, and develop engineering standards to enhance operational performance.
  • Agile Methodologies: Guide processes with flexibility and adaptability as needed.
  • Individual Contributor: Actively participate in coding and development tasks, contributing to the technical work alongside the team.

🙌 Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is ambitious, results-driven and has faced complex challenges before. You’ll likely thrive in this role if you can demonstrate the following:

  • 3+ years of software development experience with hands-on coding skills.
  • Experience as an Engineering or Project Manager on technical projects, delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Proven experience managing and coaching software development teams.
  • Significant technical experience with APIs, database management, and version control systems (GIT and GitHub).
  • Excellent communication abilities in English (both written and spoken).
  • Ability to work as part of a remote team, based in a European time zone.

  • Node, Ruby in backend
  • React and Capacitor

  • GraphQL based APIs
  • Event sourcing
  • Proficiency in using JIRA and other Atlassian products.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for team meetings and events.

🌳 Reporting Structure

The Engineering Manager will report directly to the CTO and work closely with the Head of Product. The Engineering Manager will manage the day-to-day operations, coordination, and progress tracking of the development team. The developers will report to the Engineering Manager. This structure ensures that the CTO remains informed and involved in the technical direction of projects while enabling the Engineering Manager to provide the necessary operational management and support to the development team.
